On Monday September 14th, Kayla was rushed into emergency surgery for her bowel and stomach. During the surgery Kayla went into septic shock and they had to stop immediately and could not complete the surgery. The doctors are now discussing starting dialysis because her kidneys are not flushing the infection as they should.
Since then, Kayla has been in a medically induced coma to try and help her body heal and rest so they can take her back in to hopefully complete the surgery as originally planned.
Today, September 17th at 12pm, they are bringing Kayla back into surgery in hopes they can complete and make the necessary repairs to her intestines.
Kayla is young and has 2 boys at home. Matthew who is 3, and Michael who is 1.
Her husband Chris has been by her side (as much as they will allow him to be, due to COVID-19 restrictions). With Kayla being in the hospital this also comes with financial strain with both her and her husband being off work as well as commuting to and from the hospital and paying for parking.
I am setting up this go fund me in hopes to bring them some relief so the financial aspect isn't something they need to worry about during a time like this. The most important thing is ensuring Kayla can come out of this alive and home to her loving husband and 2 children.
Times are difficult during this pandemic, so I understand some people cannot donate at this time. If you are unable to lend a hand, please share the link and get the word out.
Thank you.
