We are raising funds to help with the long term care costs for Mr. Serfass or Mr. Ed as most people call him. Mr. Ed is a Vietnam veteran and a proud grandfather of Anna, Maria, Miguel and Sofia. He is also the very proud father of Kayla Cortes and Sarah Tancredi.
Mr. Ed had a horrific fall on May 29th, 2022. He was transferred to UH Trauma Center for multiple injuries, the most serious being an unstable spinal fracture, shattered ankle and torn cervical ligaments.
He spent 27 hours in the emergency room before being transferred to the TICU where
He then spent 38 days at UH hospital where his daughters Sarah Tancredi and Kayla Cortes split shifts so they were with him constantly.
He then spent 7 days at a skilled nursing facility before being taken to Tri-Pointe Emergency Room where the doctors told his family he would not survive as he was in septic shock.
A miracle happened and not only did he survive, but finally stood up (with assistance) for the first time in over 50 days. He spent 7 days in the Tri-Pointe ICU and then was transferred to an acute rehab.
After 23 days of intense rehab he was finally able to come home. Ed needs round the clock care. He is trying to get stronger every day but can not do most things on his own or without constant supervision.
As you can imagine the family is so happy he’s home but we don’t want them to suffer from caregiver burnout. Any help provided to the Serfass family to cover long term care for their Dad would be greatly appreciated.
