Help Support the Ruby Family

This past Christmas Eve, the Ruby family went through something no one could prepare them for. While leaving his uncle’s house, Mark experienced a sudden severe brain hemorrhage which led to him suffering a stroke at the age of only 43. Mark was rushed to the hospital and immediately air-lifted to another hospital in case urgent brain surgery was needed. Luckily, he did not end up needing the surgery, but that only began their road to recovery and new life.

Mark’s stroke caused paralysis to the right side of his body eliminating his ability to walk and function on his own. He stayed in the ICU for a few days, moved to a hospital room, and then to an in-care rehab facility. Hudson, Harper, and Cade have been troopers and were able to visit their dad a few different times at the hospital. He remained in the facility for 6 weeks undergoing intensive rehabilitation and therapy. Sam was by his side every single day. Her positivity and strength for her family and the kids was beyond anything I could imagine – she has been a solid rock!

Mark has since returned home and still has ongoing out-patient, intense rehab Monday through Friday. He’s made major advances and is able to use a walker for short periods. Sam is taking him to and from rehab, while bringing Hudson and Harper to school, picking them up, and bringing Cade to and from preschool. Family and friends have been helping in anyway they have been able to, and I know they are beyond grateful for this.

At this time, medical bills are slowly coming in and are already in the tens of thousands. The reality of the situation, and future, are sinking in. We are using GoFundMe in hopes to help the Ruby family with these bills and daily living expenses to contribute to Mark’s smooth recovery. He has come so far, and the expectations continue to grow. As many know, the road to recovery is a long one and the need for support to make this road as smooth as possible is at a pivotal point.
