My name is Liz and I am writing on behalf of my long time friends.

On September 27th the Penland's woke up to disaster just like the rest of WNC. They knew their business was in a flood area and so to prepare they moved vehicles and equipment to the second funeral home. Unfortunatly that building was also completely destroyed.

Friday morning after the storm passed they decided to split up to assess the damage to the buildings. Shelly went to one and Jason went to the other. With no cell service they couldn't tell eachother that they witnessed what was a complete and utter loss. When they finally met back up, the conversation was heavy as they didn't know how they would tell their employees and family.

The Penlands have been in business for 4 generations now as their kids are recently licensed funeral directors. They have served WNC for over 50 years and have helped countless familes with loved ones.

The Penlands have one remaining funeral home where they plan to continue to help serve WNC.

This fund is to help this family owned and operated business get the much needed equipment to continue business and rebuild. They would love to keep all 20 employees.
