The Nystrom family has suffered an unimaginable loss. Kerry Nystrom passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 17, 2025. Kerry was a devoted first-grade teacher at Mystic River Magnet School and a cherished member of the Groton Public Schools community. She touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues through her kindness, dedication, and love for teaching.

Kerry is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and school community. She leaves behind her husband, Mike Nystrom, a teacher with Groton Public Schools, and their two children, Jack and Riley.

During this incredibly difficult time, the Nystrom family could use our support as they navigate unexpected expenses and focus on healing.
