Mark Watt Tech - NDCS Fundraiser 2022

In 2017 we became parents to our daughter Aurora. She had a rocky start in her first few weeks with numerous hospital admissions. We quickly learnt that our daughter was Deaf and she was diagnosed by our Audiology team with permanent sensori-neural hearing loss after failing her Newborn Hearing screening.

This came as a complete shock and we had no experience of anybody who was Deaf in our family and friends so we were completely overwhelmed, but wanted to learn as much as possible so that we could support Aurora as much as we possibly can and ensure she has access to everything she needs.

We couldn't have got through this time without the National Deaf Children's Society. They have been an amazing support network for my family and for Aurora. We had an officer visit us at our home in those first few weeks after her diagnosis and we were invited to attend a weekend for newly diagnosed families, where there would be an opportunity to learn about Deafness and meet other families going through the same as us.

The NDCS have also provided Aurora with opportunities to trial equipment. The support is ongoing and we have recently attended a course provided by them to learn more about sleep issues in Deaf children.

I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done and continue to do to help support my daughter.
I'm not working directly with the NDCS but I am hoping with your help and support we can raise money for them.

Last year I managed to raise over £300 with just kind donations from friends and family. Since then I started a YouTube channel and have ammassed a following of over 17,000 people! I hope that with the help of this following and with other kind donations  we can help raise money so that other families and children can get, and continue to get that same incredible support that is so greatly needed in the early days.

Wether it's a penny or a pound, your donation can help make a world of difference.

Lets do this guys!
