On November 7, 2025, David Andy Mylin, the beloved husband of our dear friend and coworker Josie Mylin, suffered a devastating and life-altering accident. While working with a large piece of flagstone weighing over 200 pounds, David was struck in the back of the head, causing him to fall forward and smash the entire front of his face against an outdoor countertop.

When Josie arrived at the hospital, she didn’t even recognize her husband. David suffered extensive injuries - all of the bones from the top of his teeth to the top of his skull are crushed, his nose is broken in two places, and his jaw is broken in two different spots. He has already undergone surgery to reconstruct his nose, though due to swelling, he may need additional surgeries in the coming weeks.

Doctors also discovered a brain bleed and a crack in the back of his skull, along with a pocket of air in his brain that they are carefully monitoring. He is being treated by a team of specialists, including neurosurgery, trauma care, plastic surgery, and eye specialists, and continues to undergo frequent CT scans to monitor his progress. Despite being in tremendous pain, David remains remarkably strong and continues to think of others before himself - a true reflection of the kind and selfless man that he is.

As if this weren’t enough, the Mylins’ beloved family dog, Shayla, is also currently hospitalized with Hershey Animal Emergency Center and facing her own serious health struggles. Even while hospitalized himself, David has continued to worry and ask about Shayla.

This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional time for Josie and their children, who are doing their best to stay positive and support David while managing their own fears and exhaustion. We want them to know they are not alone.

David has a long road to recovery ahead, with ongoing medical appointments, surgeries, and therapy. During this time, we’d like to come together to help relieve some of the financial burden that comes with unexpected medical expenses and time away from work.

We are setting a goal of $5,000 to help the Mylin family with medical costs, recovery needs, and any other expenses that arise during this challenging time.
