Help Support the Local Art Scene

Hi, I’m Matthew and I am the owner of The Wax Factory in the Edison neighborhood of Kalamazoo, MI. Since October if 2020, I have been renovating this formerly abandoned paraffin wax refinery to serve as an non-corporate and accessible workshop, mixed-media studios, gallery space, and community gathering place.

So far, I have funded this primarily out of my own personal savings account and have made a lot of progress in bringing life back to this old building. With the exception of some specialized work, all repairs and buildouts are being performed with my two hands. I still have a long way to go until my dream is fully realized, but everyday and every dollar brings me one step closer.

The funds gathered through this campaign will be used towards the outdoor community gathering space, improving the building’s infrastructure and to create even more affordable artist workspaces.

I am now in a position where I would like to garner some support from the community at large. If i have had an impact on your life or you feel that my presence in the neighborhood is positive and adds value to the city of Kalamazoo, I would forever be grateful for any donations you think may be appropriate.

I am hoping that with the help and support of the community, we can improve the quality of life for the wonderful people in this often forgotten corner of our city.
