Help support the Kenney family

On October 8th, 2019 my family had a devastating medical emergency that has drastically changed our lives.

On the evening of October 8th, my husband David Kenney started to experience sudden labored breathing,  which continued to worsen rapidly.  The first thought I had was that he was having a heart attack.  I immediately called 911 and in fact he was having a heart attack.

Emergency services rushed him to Milford-Whitinsville Hospital for immediate cardiac care.  They stabilized him and are still testing him for damage to his heart.  However,   upon his triage at Milford-Whitinsville Hospital we were notified that David was positive for Necrotizing Fasciitis of his right leg.  Necrotizing Fasciitis is a flesh-eating bacteria.   This bacterium had gotten into David's body through an open wound on his foot.  Necrotizing Fasciitis is a rapid spreading bacterium that if untreated, will lead to death.   The Medical Team advised me that the only way to save David's life was to amputate his right leg.

David is recovering in a Rehab Facility in Westborough, MA from his heart attack as well as his above the knee amputation.   I am blessed and beyond thankful to the Medical Team that had saved David's life.

David and I just celebrated our 23rd wedding Anniversary, in the hospital, with our 16 year old twin daughters, Abby and Megan.  Their birthday and Christmas are only 2 days apart and approaching quickly.

David had started a new job as a Nurse only 6 weeks before this episode.  Without the knowledge of rehabilitation time frame, he was let go.

As with any unexpected financial and physical challenges,  I am doing my best to manage these changes for my husband and daughters.   We do not yet know how much the expenses for David's care will be.  It has been over a month and we are getting Bill's daily.

It is with a very humble heart that I am reaching out in asking for your support.

I know that it is never easy to ask for support like this, but if there is any assistance that you might be able to offer, my family would be forever grateful.

Sincerely,
Paula Kenney
