Todd and Julie need our help!

One month ago, I received a text message from Todd, and the request was simple: 'I need help.' Fourteen years ago, I sent that same message, and the events that transpired changed my life forever.

I, too, am a recovering addict and alcoholic. When Todd described his situation, it not only broke my heart but also filled me with excitement and anticipation for what God was getting ready to do. I was in the same pit that Todd described, but God and His people showed me a way out. My wife and kids lived in fear, similar to what Julie, Olivia, Evan, and Levi have been enduring, but God replaced that fear with hope and then Faith. I used to be ashamed of what I had become and what I hadn't, but God showed me who I really am. He did for me what I could not do on my own. I was dead, and He brought me back to life. I was blind, and He gave me eyes to see. My family has been restored, and I'm asking you to help Todd and his family experience the same transformation.

I didn't know Todd before receiving his message (aside from coaching Levi in baseball and Evan being good friends with my son Reid), but I do now. What I've experienced is a man willing to go to any length for his family. He knows he needs help, and I have personally witnessed him humbly seeking that support over the last month, leading his family back to church, attending men's breakfasts and Celebrate Recovery meetings, surrounding himself with men of God, and being willing to share his story. I knew he was "ALL IN" when he showed up for our first meeting – Circle K coffee before sunrise at the park. Since that day, I have come to know and love Todd and his family, and now I'm willing to go to any length for them. I hope you are too.

Fourteen years ago, I stepped out in faith and made the best decision of my life by attending the 40-day recovery program offered at Penfield Christian Home in Union Point, GA. It was at Penfield that I realized and accepted that what Jesus did on the cross was for me, and that forgiveness, as talked about in the Bible, is for me too. I didn't have to hang on to who I was anymore; I could move forward from that point and be a new creation, and I did.

Today, Todd boarded a plane for Penfield. He and his family are moving forward in faith that God will provide. Let's help make that a reality. Any funds collected here will be given directly to Julie to help pay the bills while Todd is gone and to cover program and travel expenses. Todd, Julie, and I met and discussed their needs, and this will cover everything but please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions or prefer to give in another way.

We are also organizing meals, yard work, activities for the kids and Julie and other little special ways to let them know they are not alone and well loved.

I know many of you are already praying and have reached out to the Kennedys as well.
