Help support the Kalka family and baby Kennedy

Donation protected
Our wonderful friend and co-worker, Monica Kalka, was diagnosed at 30 weeks gestation with a single vessel umbilical cord. A thorough evaluation from a maternal/fetal specialist determined that her baby girl would be abnormally small at delivery. Four days later, at 31 weeks gestation, Monica was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome and preeclampsia. Facing a 30% maternal mortality rate, Monica delivered via an emergency c-section. Kennedy Anne was born on February 9, 2019. She weighed 3.1 pounds and was 15 3/4 inches long. At four days old, Kennedy’s lung collapsed and she had to have a chest tube inserted. Her intestines quit working as well and they had to withhold her feedings.

Gregg and Monica have both worked in the medical field for years. Personally and professionally they are always helping others and constantly giving their time and effort to make sure their patients are taken care of. They face a long journey, from the slowly resolving effects of Monica’s HELLP syndrome, as well as the uncertainty of when they can bring home their precious baby girl to meet her big brother Matthew. Imagine the amount of help you would need if this was your baby. Let’s help take the financial worries away from the Kalkas so they can focus on what is most important.
