Hello friends & family
In the early hours of the morning on October 24th my dad, Kevin Jordan, woke up with intense chest pains, shortness of breath, sweating and weird feelings in his legs. My mom decided it was best to call an ambulance for him. He was transported to CVPH where they quickly identified a tear in a valve in my dads heart. They then very quickly got him comfortable and laying flat in fear this valve could rupture. He then was flown by helicopter from CVPH over to UVM where he immediately underwent 9 hours of open heart surgery. The doctors told us this was a very long, high risk procedure that was going to have life long commitments and changes to his life. They also said 50% percent of people with this condition usually just drop dead. And the longer they wait to be seen, the chances keep increasing by 1%. My father was so lucky to have made it when he did. The surgeon assured us he did great during the surgery but still not out of the woods, as the next 72 hours would be critical for him. They were able to remove the bruised, torn valve and replace it with a graph and then a new valve. They also replaced two blood vessels that go into his stomach, with mechanical vessels. So he is now in the UVM intensive care unit, where he will be for probably the next week or more. My mother, brother and myself are pouring money into ferry expenses, gas, and food so we can be by our fathers side. My mother is also scared to death about her and my fathers bills and how they will financially get through this. If anyone knows my dad, you’d know how long he’s given but never gotten. How long he’s taken care of others but never been taken care of himself. He’s the most genuine, kind hearted man I know and he could use ANY amount of support in this desperate time of need. Keep the prayers up, and support in any ways possible. Like, share or give what you can afford, every dollar counts. We appreciate it more than we can express.
