Honoring Nancy Guimond

Update:
These last few weeks have been especially tough for the family, but the outpouring of love and support from the community is proof of how many lives Nancy touched. We can’t thank you enough for the kind thoughts and support through this tough time.

Please support and share this campaign however you feel comfortable.

Nancy's Story:
Nancy Guimond was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma, a rare form of malignant brain cancer in October 2017. A few days later she traveled to Yale New Haven Hospital to have surgery to remove the tumor. Recovery from the surgery alone would be a long road, but her treatment was just getting started.

She began radiation treatment in December followed by 12 cycles of chemotherapy and physical therapy. After many months, she started to show signs of improvement.

Unfortunately this was short lived and her condition began to decline in late 2018, prompting her doctors to start running new tests. They discovered several masses in her brain near the area where they removed her tumor in 2017, diagnosing them as potential remnants of the cancer, scar tissue or radiation-damaged tissue.

The treatments, procedures and medicines Nancy relied on to help her battle cancer were very expensive. She was unable to work during her treatment and her family had to adapt to life on a single income. Fighting through cancer was tough enough, but the added financial burden made a bad situation worse.

On April 4th, Nancy passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones. Her warmth, compassion and loving nature have been a wonderful part of our family, community and lives, and will be sorely missed.

We Need Your Help!

All of your generous donations for a very deserving family have been amazing. The funeral costs and remaining medical bills coming in continue to be a financial burden. Our hope is to help cover these costs to give them the chance to focus on healing .

The Guimond family have been active and supportive members of our community, and among friends and family. It’s time we repay the favor and help them in their time of need.

Please consider donating (every little bit helps) and help us spread the word by sharing this campaign.

This fundraiser is being organized and run by her niece Jillian Ferguson and Jillian’s husband, Jeremy Szechenyi. Her children Evan Guimond, Tyler Guimond and Meghan Guimond, and sisters Laura Sycz and Darlene Bensen are also part of the support team. All funds will be delivered directly to Kelly Guimond, Nancy’s husband and primary caretaker.
