My story

Hello, my name is Anthonio Gregoire. I am a 32-year-old honest hard-working husband and father. I am a Christian man of faith completely dedicated to providing for my family by any means. Some time ago, I had to make a decision whether to stay at a job where I was comfortable and worked for the majority of my adult life or to take a risk and step outside of my comfort zone and take on my first truck driving job as a curbside garbage collector. I took the risk and it paid off. I was able to make more money to accommodate my newborn, wife and oldest son. I have worked for my company since September 2016, and over the past four years I have given every bit of my energy and my life to the company I work for.

I had a near perfect attendance record, rarely missing a day of work except in the instance of a dire family matter. I was committed to excellence in my performance on the job and on most days that meant working 12-14 hours a day, and then coming home to be husband and a father to a family eagerly waiting to see me for just a couple of hours in the evening only to do it all over again the following day! As one might suspect, it became very physically and mentally taxing, but I truly loved and enjoyed serving my community and being a SUPERHERO to the kids I would see regularly on my routes which was the highlight of my workday.

The stress on my brain, and my body from the very few hours to the lack of sleep I was getting was taking a huge toll on me. On May/6/2021 my brain could not take it anymore and I had a Grand mal seizure; my wife and now 3-year-old son were there when it happened and witnessed every second of it. I still can't Believe it happened to me! I was off work for a month on sick leave waiting to see a neurologist, not really understanding the severity of my injury. While waiting, my wife started having panic attacks which we suspected could be the flashbacks and her body's way of reacting from witnessing me, her husband had a grand mal seizure in front of her and our youngest son.

This part of the story is when I realized this was out of my control. I found out this past Tuesday that I cannot work or drive until I get an EEG/MRI to make sure it’s not epilepsy in order to have my license reinstated and get back to work. Being out for an indefinite period of time, I had to come to grips with the fact that I am capable of working in some capacity but because of the risk I pose, the company is more comfortable with me on sick leave. I tried to apply for other benefits and exhausted every option to see if I could get some more help from the government, but I was told it was not possible. So, with all that being said I told my wife if I have to be in debt to keep a roof over my family’s head until this hard time passes, I’m willing to do just that; A SACRIFICE I am more than willing to make in order to provide as a Loving husband and father. We’re reaching out to the hearts of those in our community, our friends, and our family to give if they’re able to give. Whatever you can give at this time, whether it’s financially or in your prayers, all of it is much appreciated and we are very grateful. Thank you.

GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!
