It is with our deepest sympathy and pain to be writing this, today…

A few months ago Matt and Lisa found out that after eight years together, a six year old daughter and crossing state lines as a family, their prayers would finally be answered. They were to expect a baby boy named Beau, January 2022. What a beautiful way they’d be starting off their new year!

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago… As preparations began for a family vacation (back home to CA) for their best friends wedding and the untimely death of her father, Lisa had some check-ups and blood work to be done to make sure everything was still going according to schedule. Her levels were off but nothing too concerning.

The whole family, baby Beau included, boarded a plane for CA. They spent most of their time celebrating their friends and family and helping in any way they could. From setting up for the wedding to shopping for last minute items to spending quality time. With them living so far away, they had to make every minute count. That meant having their siblings and nieces and nephews over helping with wedding preparations, too! It didn’t matter what they were doing as long as it was together. They are selfless like that. Always trying to help. Even on vacation.

As all vacations do, this one came to an end and it was time to get back to real life. Back to work for Matt and lots of follow up doctors appointments for Lisa.

Two days ago after being told that her levels were still off but this time a bit too much, Lisa was rushed to the hospital. Doctors were able to immediately detect cancer in her body. She was transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital because of baby Beau for further diagnosis and treatment. Without being pregnant, Matt and Lisa likely wouldn’t have found out about the cancer. While this pregnancy has been such a blessing in so many ways, doctors have just decided that the only possibly course of action to save Lisa’s life is to immediately start Chemotherapy. Meaning Beau wouldn’t make it. AML leukemia is extremely aggressive and usually goes undetected until it’s too late.

Doctors are hopeful and going to transfer Lisa to St. Luke’s hospital for better treatment. This aggressive treatment plan not only means that Lisa will be in the hospital for at least 8 weeks but that the stay at home mother won’t be able to see or hold her 6 year old daughter the entire duration due to current covid restrictions.

Matt will have to be off work to take care of their daughter as they live in Texas and their friends and family are in California. His work doesn’t offer paid family leave and with the family just coming home from vacation, not only has this been extremely mentally and physically devastating but will be financially devastating as well.

Matt and Lisa are not only those humans that will give you the shirt off of their backs but the last $5 in their pocket, if you needed it. They are so incredibly kind and giving. We are asking that you not only keep them in your prayers but please help us to help them financially. We would like to raise enough money so that Matt can stay home with their daughter, pay for child care when he’s with Lisa, cover their home bills along with groceries and upcoming medical expenses. This family has been so devastated this week, please help us to alleviate some of their stress.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read their story and thank you so much for your support.
