Help support the FIGHT of Lindsey Johns!

Christmastime will never be the same for us. We never thought we would be on this website-asking for help and support for our own family’s tragedy. We’ve often asked for prayers and have always had positive responses. But, here we are. This is not something easily shared. We are having a hard time finding the words to express the emotions that are engulfing our family. Our Aunt’s daughter, Lindsey, our cousin, needs all of your prayers and support during this time of need. She is a single mother caring for two girls, ages 7 and 9. She has seen struggles before - but none like this one! After taking care of both of the girls during their bouts with the flu, Lindsey contracted it herself before Christmas and has been fighting for her life ever since! With many complications that are hard to explain - Lindsey was intubated and placed in a medically induced coma to save her life. The team at South Lake Hospital contacted UF Shands Hospital about her being a candidate for their ECMO program. She was accepted and was taken by ambulance to Shands in Gainesville. While she is no longer in an induced coma, she is still currently sedated and on a ventilator, as well as ECMO and dialysis machines. She has pneumonia, a bacterial infection that has severally affected her lungs, which has caused sepsis in her liver and kidneys and presently her neurological cognitive state is unknown.

We decided to share this because we truly believe in the power of prayer and the support of family and friends. So many of you have asked, “How can I help?” Your contribution, whether big or small, will help to care for Kendall and Kylie while they await their Mommy’s recovery. It will help defray the expenses needed for travel and hotels to and from Gainesville, and any other expenses that might arise.  She has an extremely long road of recovery ahead of her!

Right now we need every friend with faith to offer a prayer, not only for Lindsey, but also the doctors and nurses that are caring for her. Also please pray for our Aunt Sherri, Uncle Jay and her brothers, Austin and Parker, as they try so hard to stand strong and stay positive. There are so many people that love and care about her and recognize her warriors heart. It’s going to be a long and very difficult path but with such an amazing community of healers and protectors of the spirit, she will not only survive but once again flourish. We wanted to thank everyone for their love and support during this time. All of your prayers and well wishes have hit home and have allowed us to survive the first wave of this crisis.
