Help support the Durack-Punzalan family after Connor’s death

Dear friends, family, and generous hearts,

On Saturday, July 27th, in the early morning hours, the Punzalan-Durack family’s world was shattered when Connor was tragically struck and killed in a hit and run while walking home. What was supposed to be a fun night out for Connor and his brother-in-law, quickly turned in to a tragedy no one could have foreseen.

Connor (38) leaves behind so many dear family and friends who loved him. His wife May, Isla (8) and Hayden (4), now have a huge void in their lives as they try to pick up the pieces following this unthinkable tragedy. As May said to me recently at our friend’s wedding, “Isla and Hayden love and idolize their Dad. He’s such a fun Dad.”

Connor was the epitome of fun and loved adventure. Just a few weeks ago at that very wedding, he told us he wanted to pack up May and the kids and take them on a road trip to Myrtle Beach because he wanted his kids to see the ocean. And so he did just that the next day. He loved his family and his friends with such a big heart and would be there in a second if anyone needed a hand. That’s just who he was.

I first met Connor 10 years ago and instantly understood why Matthew and him were friends for life. He spoke and looked at Matthew with so much love, admiration and respect. It’s the same way he speaks and looks at all those he loves and would do anything for.

The road ahead for May and the kids is a long and uncertain one. There is still an investigation pending, and the hit and run took place in Quebec which makes things a little more complicated. We’ve created this go fund me to help support May, Isla, and Hayden in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead of them without their beloved Daddy. Our hope is to raise enough money so that May can take this time to be with her kids, and not have to worry about funeral costs, monthly bills, food costs, etc. Any help is so greatly appreciated by May and Connor’s family.

Chers amis, famille et cœurs généreux,

Le samedi le 27 juillet, tôt le matin, le monde de la famille Punzalan-Durack a été brisé lorsque Connor a été tragiquement frappé et tué dans un délit de fuite alors qu'il rentrait chez lui. Ce qui était censé être une soirée amusante pour Connor et son beau-frère, s'est rapidement transformé en une tragédie que personne n'aurait pu prévoir.

Connor (38 ans) laisse derrière lui tant de membres de sa famille et d'amis qui l'aimaient. Sa femme May, Isla (8 ans) et Hayden (4 ans) ont désormais un énorme vide dans leur vie. Comme May me l’a dit récemment lors du mariage de nos amis : « Isla et Hayden aiment et idolâtrent leur père. C’est un papa tellement amusant. »

Connor était l'incarnation de l'aventure amusante et appréciée. Il y a quelques semaines à peine, lors de ce mariage, il nous a dit qu'il voulait emmener May et leurs enfants en road trip à Myrtle Beach parce qu'il voulait que ses enfants voient l'océan. Et c’est exactement ce qu’il a fait le lendemain. Il aimait sa famille et ses amis d'un si grand cœur et serait là dans une seconde si quelqu'un avait besoin d'un coup de main. C’est juste qui il était. J'ai rencontré Connor pour la première fois, il y a 10 ans et j'ai immédiatement compris pourquoi Matthew et lui étaient amis pour la vie. Il parlait et regardait Matthew avec tant d'amour, d'admiration et de respect. C’est la même façon dont il parle et regarde tous ceux qu’il aime et pour lesquels il ferait tout.

Le chemin à parcourir pour May et les enfants est long et incertain. Il y a toujours une enquête en cours et le délit de fuite a eu lieu au Québec ce qui rend les choses un peu plus compliquées. Nous avons créé ce fonds pour aider May, Isla et Hayden dans les jours, semaines, mois et années à venir sans leur cher papa bien-aimé. Notre espoir est de récolter suffisamment d’argent pour que May puisse prendre ce temps pour être avec ses enfants, sans avoir à se soucier des frais funéraires, des factures mensuelles, des frais de nourriture, etc. Toute aide est grandement appréciée par May et la famille de Connor.
