On December 28th, we (Jeff Shaknaitis, Matt Bos, Eric Hubin) will be heading to India for a three week "adventure". I'm not sure that’s a strong enough word. Along with ~85 other teams, we will be driving a tuk tuk from Jaisalmer to Kochi….according to Google they're 2,584 km apart. A distance we are going to have to cover in 14 days in a vehicle with about as much power as a lawnmower. Check out the event here: http://www.theadventurists.com/rickshaw-run, and maybe sign up for next year yourself!
We are very fortunate to have the time and the means for a trip like this, and we think a very important part of the experience is being able to give back in some way. We believe strongly that there is nothing more important than education and the dissemination of knowledge to help lift communities out of poverty and gestate the next generation of people who can change the world. Unfortunately, there are millions of kids in India who may never have a opportunity to get such an education, which is why we were drawn an organization in Mumbai called the Door Step School: http://www.doorstepschool.org/home-page/
Their mission is to help improve literacy and overall access to education in urban youth ages 3-14 in the most marginalized sections of Indian society. We have decided to support the Door Step School as part of our adventure, and hope to stop by the school when we pass through Mumbai and meet the people doing this awesome work. Please consider making a donation on this page, or go directly to the Door Step School's website.
Thank you for your support!
Perk: Donations of $25 or more will have ther names written on our tuktuk.
