Help Support the Divine Miss "O"

LEUKEMIA SUCKS. It sucks out your blood cells, your hemoglobin levels, your energy and usually your joy. But... then there was the divine miss "O."

When the word leukemia entered Olivia's life, it was sudden, unexpected and terrifying. She was so sick, so quickly, it was overwhelming. Within days, our family learned definitions and words we never needed to know. We researched for information, treatments, options and expectations. We waited anxiously for test results and consultations. We hoped for the best, but braced for the worst.

Olivia was not experiencing the same version of our new reality. She quickly settled into her diagnosis and began to school the rest of us with her patient and mature level of acceptance. "I just have to accept it and walk through it - I don't have any other options, so I just have to do it," she said. How does a young woman just embarking on her early adult life of driving, college, living alone and navigating the world around her educate the rest of us on this gentle version of normalcy? Normalcy in a time of shock and deep fear. She just did it. And she continues to do it.

Leukemia has created a situation where our Divine Miss "O" will now need to reside close to her cancer treatment center, hundreds of miles away from home. She will need to put college on hold. She will need the loving support of her father and his fiancé on a daily basis, to provide care, transportation and temporary housing. All of her dreams will need to wait... and the wait will be challenging, demanding and expensive.

We have established this Go Fund Me to help Olivia and her family as they navigate this foreign and frightening territory. We are dedicated to supporting O walk through this journey with GRACE, NOT FEAR.

Her family should not worry or fear when the medical bills begin piling up, including all of the unexpected costs with living in a new city and putting their lives on hold. We reach out to each of you today - all of you who have been asking for weeks - "How can I help?"

We can't be there with O as she walks through painful chemotherapy treatments. We can't take her to and from appointments, as her weakened immune system will require minimal interaction with others. We can't hold her hand, hug her through the emotional days, support her as she begins to lose her hair. Some of us can make and deliver meals. Some of us can support locally in their new home. But most of us are wanting to help from afar... and so we have the opportunity to provide some financial support thanks to this Go Fund Me account.

We thank you for your love, prayers, support, kindness and generosity. If you can help our divine miss "O" in any way possible, we are so deeply grateful.

Thank you. Oh, and leukemia sucks.
