This is to support the family of Tony and Kathy DeLeonardo.

Their son, Anthony, suffered an accident last Saturday evening, October 9th. After exhausting every measure during this past week, it was clear that Anthony could not be healed. Wednesday night, Anthony was removed from life support, and declared deceased at 6:01 pm, October 13. Anthony is the oldest of their three sons, and leaves behind his fiancée, and two young children.

Jared, their youngest son, is 21 and was born with congenital kidney failure. Jared’s left kidney was removed at an early age because of continued, serious infections. Subsequently, Jared has been undergoing dialysis and is in end stage kidney failure. Anthony always said his wish was to give his brother a kidney. Two weeks ago, Anthony signed on to be a living donor for his brother.

This past Wednesday, when Tony and Kathy were faced with the reality of Anthony never awakening, they replied to the living donor team. They asked that the donor team help save Jared with a kidney from Anthony. What normally takes 6 months to align a donor, has happened in the last two days. As we write this currently, Anthony (under the care of an organ donor team) is being prepped for surgery in Orlando, as Jared is being prepped for the kidney transplant in Miami. Other families will be getting calls with the gift of life, as Anthony is also donating other organs, including his other kidney, liver and heart.
