Hi, my name is Miranda, and I am the Front of House Manager at Corso Italian in Shirlington. I’m organizing this fundraiser to support my fellow Corso team members who have been directly impacted by the restaurant’s unexpected temporary closure following recent flooding.
On August 2, Corso experienced significant flooding that caused extensive damage to the restaurant. Over the weeks that followed, our team did everything possible to adapt to constantly changing circumstances while continuing to provide the hospitality our guests know and love.
Unfortunately, the extent of the damage now requires Corso to close completely while necessary construction and repairs take place. Our hourly employees are facing an immediate and unexpected loss of income. Because the flooding resulted from exterior construction work, our insurance will not cover the wages our team will lose while the restaurant is closed. This leaves many of our employees facing several weeks without their regular income through circumstances entirely outside of their control.
I have had the privilege of working alongside this incredible group of servers, bartenders, hosts, cooks, dishwashers, and support staff, and I have watched them handle an unbelievably difficult few weeks with resilience, flexibility, and genuine care for one another.
I created this fundraiser as a way for our community to come together and personally support the members of our team who are facing financial hardship during this unexpected closure.
100% of donations will be distributed among our Corso team members affected by the closure to provide some additional financial support during this incredibly uncertain time.
If you have ever joined us for dinner, celebrated a birthday or anniversary at Corso, attended one of our events, stopped in for a bowl of pasta and a glass of wine, or simply been welcomed through our doors, you have experienced the people who make Corso so special. They are the heart of this restaurant.
If you are able to donate, any amount is deeply appreciated. If donating isn't possible, sharing this fundraiser with friends, neighbors, and the greater DMV community would mean just as much.
I am incredibly grateful for every person who has already reached out asking how they can help our team. My goal is simply to do everything I can to support the people I work alongside while we navigate this situation and look forward to the day we can all be back together at Corso.
Thank you for supporting our team and for showing them just how much this community cares. ❤️
