On the 20th of November, Maddys waters spontaneously broke at 21+5 weeks pregnant so her and Dave rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, Maddy and Dave were told that they were going to be in for a long stay to be on 4 hourly IV & oral antibiotics, blood pressure checks, blood tests, oxygen tests, and temperature checks to avoid any infection as viability stage for the baby is 24 weeks. This was a long road for Maddy and Dave but with the support of their family with keeping Lily, and the staff at Nepean hospital, bubs stayed put for a while.
Unfortunately due to an infection, labour began for Maddy at 4am on 30/11 when she was just 23+1 weeks pregnant, and the most beautiful little angel Abbie Grace Cassar was born at 4:58pm weighing just 540g, blowing one tiny kiss to mum and dad before taking her final breath on Maddys chest.
Maddy and Dave were feeling incredibly peaceful cuddling their little angel and having their moment with her when things started to get worse again. Within two hours, Maddy was losing enormous amounts of blood, vomiting, losing consciousness and had hospital staff coming at her from every angle with needles and medications. The infection had caused the placenta to break down inside of her. She was rushed for emergency surgery and continued to lose enormous amounts of blood. After 6 hours thanks to the incredible efforts and quick thinking of the hospital staff, Maddy made it through and has been recovering in the ICU after losing half of her whole body blood volume.
Maddy and Dave are still in the hospital with their beautiful angel giving her cuddles before laying her to rest, as well as focusing on recovering. However due to extra costs such as Maddy not working, Dave having to close the business down during this time, Lily needing extra days at daycare and Abbies funeral, Dave is looking at returning to work within the next day, despite his wife having a three month recovery time, with him having to administer her needles daily for six weeks.
This go fund me is to help with giving their girl the most beautiful possible send off in her forever resting place, as well as assist in daily expenses so that they can continue to grieve and recover as a family.
Even the smallest contribution will go along way!
