The Carney Family

We are reaching out to the friends and family of Tanner Carney. On Sunday, August 12, Tanner had a severe headache that caused numbness to the right side of his face. He went to the ER thinking it was a simple migraine and would be treated and released. After a few test the CT scan came back as abnormal and he was admitted so that he could have an MRI done. After a few hours stay at BSA hospital, he was airlifted to UT Southwestern in Dallas, Tx where he was diagnosed with a 8 cm brain mass. Normally they would schedule the surgery 2 weeks out, but due to the mass pushing on the right side of his brain(which can effect his speech, memory, and motor skills) they scheduled surgery for Monday, August 20. During the surgery, they will wake Tanner up to talk to him and ensure they are not interfering with his speech and memory functions. At this point the neurosurgeon is hoping to be able to remove the whole tumor; however, there is a chance Tanner will require chemo and radiation. Tanner was told he will have a high chance of the mass returning for the rest of his life requiring MRIs every three months. Most of you know the amazing man Tanner Carney is but for those who don’t....Tanner married Ashleigh when he was only 19 years old. Some might think they were just babies, but if you have ever spent time with the two.... you know they are a few of the lucky ones who found TRUE love early in life. Together they worked hard and grew into adults together. They have been blessed with three amazing little boys: Brayden, Brody, and Britten. When Brody was born it made more financial sense for Ashleigh to stay home due to the high cost of daycare. Tanner made the tough decision to work long, out of town trips at the railroad, being on call 24/7 to provide for his family. It wasn’t easy for him to be away but he did what he had to to provide. The doctors cannot give an approximate return to work date at this time. Those that know Tanner, knows he is one of the best friends, brothers, sons, husband and Dads out there. He has a special way of pushing your buttons while ensuring you know you are a priority to him. They just don’t make them better. If you are able to help relieve some of the financial stress the Carney’s will be facing, it is greatly appreciated. But more importantly please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they begin this sudden, scary journey.
