Help Support the Callahan Family

Tuesday morning was just like any other morning, dad headed to work early and mom got all three kiddos up and started with their morning routines.

Little did we know that this morning was far from normal.

Right before breakfast, our 8 year old daughter, Annabeth’s left arm went numb and the left side of her face wasn’t responding.

So Rebecca rushed her to the ER. With two other kiddos in tow she frantically called me to get me out of my meetings and on the road to meet her.

Our daughter was screaming and grabbing her head. The doctors couldn’t figure out what was going on and it seemed like little was being done. (To our extreme frustration)

As parents we didn’t like that answer so we hustled our primary care physician down (Cara Hamilton is the best) and had her call the doctors to see how things were going and find out how she could push things along.

Several hours passed and Annabeth was getting much worse. We asked what could be done but the answer was “wait and see”. So we pushed and pushed until we got transferred to a better facility. “Wait and see” wasn’t going to do it for us. We’ve been fighting for this girl since she came into our care almost 6 years ago. Within a couple hours my daughter and wife were on a plane across the state to get the care we needed. And the boys and I jumped in our car and drove hours to catch up.

Test were run around the clock. Neurologist, Geneticist, ICU doctors, and nurses collaborated to find a solution to what was happening in our little babies head. And we still seek that answer. It’s the worst feeling in the world as a parent to want to fix a situation but not have the power to do so.

Her brain was rattled and a lot of unknowns took place. We continue to sit in room 2947 as we wait for the outcome and next steps to unfold.

Annabeth is slowly gaining her ability to talk, walk, and get back to herself.

This process is scary and the unknowns outweigh the knowns.

We have so many people praying and asking what they can.

Some of our friends, John and Nancy Pruitt called and asked if we would like them to set something up for people to help. They both said people want to be a blessing and this could give them the opportunity to do so.

I don’t know what the future holds for Annabeth or our family but we are hopeful.

God has always provided exactly what we need when we need it and we know he will continue to do so going forward. We don’t know what things will cost but it doesn’t matter. We are going to push ahead and get Annabeth exactly what she needs when she needs it.

Thanks a million for your prayers, calls, texts, comments, and all the love you’ve shown us in this short amount of time.

Thanks a million for those that have sent gifts, gift cards, picked up hotel bills, food bills, etc. And lastly thanks to those that feel led to give something to this.

You are all a blessing to us and we are grateful!

Love,

Ryan, Rebecca, Annabeth, Silver, and (little foster guy)
Hi All,
Thank you again for your prayers and for anything you feel led to give toward the current and future expenses incurred, which includes the medflight across the state and expenses incurred for the family to stay close to the hospital where Annabeth is being treated (350 miles from home).  There will most likely be additional treatments and travel needed, so every bit will help!
