As many of you know my sister Lauren Donati, owner of The Bread Shop, had a devastating loss to her business from a fire that affected her bakery on April 27, 2026. She is so grateful for all of the support from family, friends, customers and all of the surrounding communities over the years. She appreciates every interaction, all the purchases and mostly all the memories that were created. There is no way to express how important this community is to her. Thank you for helping her build more than The Bread Shop but a community.
Lauren has poured her heart into this bakery for a decade, and now she needs support to rebuild. Please read her statement below and please consider donating if you can. Thank you!
To my customers,
I never imagined I'd be sharing such terrible news with all of you. Earlier this week, the bakery caught fire. The space was unoccupied at the time and everyone is safe, which is what matters most. The fire department has determined the fire originated in the area of the bathroom ceiling.
It was likely electrical. I'm still figuring out the extent of the damage and what the next steps are. What didn't burn or melt from the fire is significantly damaged due to charred debris and extensive water damage.
Equipment, ingredients, and supplies - the tools that created bread and pastries for your tables - now sit idle and potentially ruined.
For the past 10 years, I've poured everything into The Bread Shop. This business, and the community that has supported it, means more to me than I can fully express. Right now, the future is uncertain. However, what I do know is how much I've loved baking for you, and I hope to do so again.
I ask for your patience and support as I navigate the days ahead. I'll share updates when I can.
Thank you for letting my loaves be a part of your table. It has been a privilege to break bread with you all these years.
