(3/15/24) Update: Ryker is now looking at another month or more in the Omaha Children’s Hospital for surgery and recovery.

Hi, friends! I'm starting this to help my brother (Shawn) and his wife (Andrea) manage hotel, food and travel expenses while they're out of state with their newborn baby, who is currently awaiting heart surgery.

Ryker James Bobbitt was born on 3/9/24, 5:19 am at 5lbs 5 oz. He was born with a CHD (congenital heart defect) that has to do with the valves of his heart. They had a beautiful delivery and normal first 3 hours before Ryker starting having complications with oxygen, which was a result of the heart defect. They waited 3 more hours before they got any news about moving Ryker to a different location and at 6:30pm on March 9th, Ryker was put into a helicopter and Life-Flighted from Des Moines, IA to Omaha, NE. It is currently estimated that they will be there anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks or until Ryker is stable and able to come home.

My goal with this fund is to relieve some of the financial burden from my brother and his wife so they can focus more on their beautiful newborn baby. These costs were something our family did not anticipate as Ryker chose to make his appearance 3 weeks early, which in turn changed their original plans.
