As many of you know, Vernon and South Windsor legend Peter Blume passed away suddenly on March 1st. 2022. This has come as a complete shock to the community and especially his family. He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Wendy, his two children, Timothy and Allison, and many close relatives near and far.

 

If you knew Peter, you never forgot him. Peter was the type of person to give you the shirt off his back or be a shoulder for you to cry on. Many saw him as the literal definition of a gentle giant. He dedicated the last six years of his life to serving as a Lieutenant in the Vernon Fire Police, a true hero he was. Whether he was your teacher, neighbor, coach, or colleague, he was one of the people who got along with anyone, no matter who they were. Caring, genuine, selfless, and loving are just some of the many ways to describe the type of person he was. He will be loved, missed, but most importantly, remembered.
