Help Support The Aplastic Anaemia Trust

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Matt, and I’m raising money by doing the Yorkshire 3 peaks on the 13th June 2026, for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust, a small but vital charity that supports people affected by aplastic anaemia — a rare and life-threatening bone marrow failure condition.

Aplastic anaemia is often mistaken for iron deficiency anaemia, but it’s far more serious. It means the bone marrow has stopped producing enough blood cells, which can leave someone at constant risk of severe infections, fatigue, bleeding, and other life-threatening complications. Treatment is often similar to what a person with blood cancer might go through.

On 22nd May 2025, my friends’ lives changed completely when their daughter, Isla, was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia. Since then, she has endured five surgeries (including two bone marrow aspirations and three central lines), multiple hospital stays due to infections, and an intensive six-day round of chemotherapy. Recently, she underwent a bone marrow transplant, with a donor coming all the way from Germany — an incredible act of generosity and hope.

That’s why I’ve decided to raise money for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust, who have been an incredible source of information, community, and support for families going through this unimaginable journey. Every donation helps fund research, raise awareness, and provide specialist support to those affected.

Your support, big or small, can make a real difference to people fighting this ultra-rare condition.

Thank you for taking the time to read their story and for helping raise awareness of aplastic anaemia.
