Hi my name is Cindy. I’ve been friends with Wayne and Tammy for 25yrs. This fund is in support of Tammy and Wayne as they navigate these next few weeks.
As many of you know Wayne was diagnosed with cancer in late October 2022. It is called squamous cell carcinoma of the lung (stage 4) and it has spread to his pelvis and spine. This is a very fast and aggressive cancer that has taken them by surprise as Wayne was originally being treated for a sore leg for months before anyone ordered the proper imaging and simply referred him to physiotherapy where he only declined. They have since been told that Wayne has 2-6 weeks. Wayne is self employed and has been unable to work for months now. His wife Tammy has had to take a leave from work to be with him and help oversee his care. He is bed ridden. They are currently in Kingston Hospital with Tammy spending every night in a nearby respite hotel. Wayne will most likely not make it home due to the level of care that is required to make him comfortable. They are hoping to have him moved to hospice care in Belleville so they can be closer to friends and family but they have to wait for space to become available. As you know there are many costs involved just so Tammy can be by his side. Patient transfer fees are exuberant, daily meals and hotel fees are adding up not to mention the costs of just daily living and Tammy trying to manage it all from Kingston while the kids are at home doing their best to help out where they can. In the coming weeks Tammy will have to start thinking about the unimaginable. Anyone who knows this couple loves them. They met as teenagers and built a beautiful life and family together. Please give what you can. Let’s help give their family some peace of mind while they navigate the difficult weeks that lay ahead. Please give what you can and share this to your social media so we can reach as many people as possible.
Thank you.
