At just 11 years old Tamelia is facing something no child ever should. Recently diagnosed with two different types of thyroid cancer she is now facing a long road ahead from surgeries, hospital stays and visits, treatment, medication and all of the physical and emotional challenges that come with any cancer diagnosis.
Tamelia had been suffering with various symptoms such as extreme fatigue, irritability, severe mood swings and aches and pains for 3+ years, This was all brushed off as normal early childhood development by doctors along with various other factors.
Her mum knew something still wasn’t right and continued to try and pursue.
Unfortunately all of these symptoms impacted Tamelia’s school life and childhood a great deal even causing her to put a hold on her passion for dancing which she had been doing since she was 4 years old. She couldn’t understand why she felt this way.
After a lump appeared on her neck over a year ago which was investigated by various hospitals before being handed over to Great Ormond Street where procedures and surgeries started.
What should be a time filled with school life, friends, laughter, family and childhood memories has now become a journey of courage, strength and resilience from a child who is old enough to understand everything but too young to comprehend. Despite this Tamelia continues to show incredible strength and bravery.
Since Tamelia’s first surgery and diagnosis, she has undergone another surgery to remove all of her thyroid and now has to be on lifelong medication that will always be monitored regularly.
Tamelia has just had treatment and now we await the results of her latest scans to see if the cancer has spread further.
Tamelia has a baby sister who has just turned 2. She was so excited to have a sibling but unfortunately has not been able to fulfill her dreams of being a big sister to the fullest.
As a family we are all doing everything we can to support Tamelia through this journey.
Anyone that knows the family will also know that her mum does not accept help easily. However, after much persuasion, has agreed for this to be set up as the financial burden that comes with any cancer diagnosed is really putting a strain on the family.
We are reaching out to ask for any support during this difficult time for Tamelia and her family. We hope every share and donation will help ease the financial stress on the family and allow them to focus on what matters most with helping Tamelia healing and recovering throughout the long journey ahead.
All donations would go towards bringing a little joy to Tamelia and her little sister and anything they may need. Putting memories into their childhood. Help with travel to hospital admissions and appointments, accommodation, personal needs for Tamelia & can hopefully give the family the chance to make some special memories when Tamelia is feeling well enough and give Tamelia some joy back from all the years that she has been unable to do the things she loves. Tamelia is really struggling with her diagnosis, the lifelong medication and all the symptoms and demands Cancer comes with.
