Help Support Talia’s Recovery After a Softball Injury

Hi, my name is Taylor, and I have the privilege of helping coach Talia Baehre on our 14U Gators team with the Newton County Recreation Department. Talia is an incredible young athlete whose positive spirit and infectious energy light up every game and practice.

On Wednesday, March 26th, while warming up for just our second game of the season, Talia was unexpectedly struck in the mouth by a softball. The impact knocked out two of her front teeth completely and fractured a third. She was rushed to an emergency orthodontist in Atlanta, where doctors were able to reset the damaged teeth and place temporary braces to stabilize them. She also received stitches for a deep cut to the inside of her lip.

Despite the pain and fear she’s faced, Talia has remained unbelievably strong and optimistic. This is a true testament to the kind of person she is.

While her family’s insurance has covered a portion of the emergency care, they are still left with $700 in out-of-pocket expenses from that initial visit. On top of that, Talia is expected to need 2–3 root canals in the coming weeks. She has also been advised that she will likely need dental implants around the time she turns 18. These procedures may not be fully covered, and the medical costs will quickly add up.

We’re starting this fundraiser to help lift some of that financial burden off Talia’s family during this challenging time. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward her dental care and recovery.

I will continue to share updates here as her treatment progresses and will continue to update the target fundraising goal as more bills become due.
