Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
My name is Kassee, and I am reaching out on behalf of my mother, Sydnee. As many of you may know, on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, 2024, our world changed in an instant. While preparing to celebrate with family at home, my mom suffered a tragic fall that left her unable to feel her legs. My dad immediately called for an ambulance, and she was rushed to the hospital, where she was placed in a neck brace and underwent extensive testing.
After X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, doctors determined she needed emergency spinal surgery the very next day, on January 1st, 2025. While the surgery initially seemed successful, doctors pronounced her paralyzed from the waist down. One week passed after surgery, and unexpected complications arose. She developed severe pneumonia, requiring full assistance from a ventilator for over a month. Due to fluid buildup in her lungs, she eventually needed a tracheostomy tube to help her breathe.
Now, more than two months later in the ICU, my mother remains unable to move her lower body. She has undergone multiple surgeries and, as of March 7th, 2025, has been transferred to a long-term acute care center for ongoing therapy and recovery, with hope and prayer that she’ll be able to walk again.
This has placed an enormous emotional and financial burden on our family. My father has had to take on the role of both parents while caring for my younger siblings, ages 10 and 16. We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support from friends, family, and the community, but we never imagined the financial strain this journey would bring.
With rising medical bills far exceeding our expectations, we are seeking to raise $100,000 to help cover hospital expenses, rehabilitation costs, and ongoing care.
We know times are tough for many, and we truly appreciate any contribution, big or small. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing our story with others who may be able to help.
The kindness, prayers, and generosity that my family has received mean more than you can possibly imagine. We just want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Together, we can help my mom get the care she needs on her road to recovery.
With love and gratitude,
Kassee
