Hi, my name is Svetlana, I am 49 years old, and I am raising funds to help cover my monthly expenses for the next six months, while I fight with my medical problems.
It all started back in 2015 when I was diagnosed with pancreatitis inflammation, from which most people do not survive. I was that 1 in a million survivor story. But my pancreas was severely damaged from the inflammation it suffered. I spent one month in the ICU, and six months recovering at home, after which I had to go back to work, to take care of my boys in school. After two months back at work, I had another attack, and this time the doctors diagnosed me with a huge pseudocyst that required surgery. It was such a rare case for them, that it took six months to find a specialist who had a few treatment options.
In 2017, the doctors discovered that I had multiple hernias from all the surgeries that were performed on me, and after a 5-hour surgery, the hernias were finally closed surgically.
In 2018, after I fainted in the middle of my job on a military base, I was taken to the emergency and diagnosed with diabetes. Two weeks later I fell into a coma at work. Thankfully the military base I was working in had its own emergency team, and I was brought back the same day. And this is when my health went downhill very quickly. My diabetes was very aggressive and needed to be treated with twice-a-day insulin, instead of pills like most people would do who start dealing with diabetes.
Four years later, my diabetes has gotten completely out of control and eating is a painful exercise. This summer, the doctors finally concluded that my pancreas was not functioning anymore, which is why I was having so much pain every time I was eating for the past two years. This resulted in another set of treatments that needed to occur every four months in order for me to be able to eat without pain. In October, I started fainting twice a day and the pain in my pancreas started again, which made it impossible for me to drive and work, so I had to quit my job. In November, I had another surgery for my pancreas to facilitate eating, but my digestive system is now malfunctioning.
I am currently undergoing treatments from home and have no more reserves to pay the bills, I cannot go out of the house without supervision as I may faint uncontrollably. Most of my doctor appointments are virtual, but for some, I still need to go in person. The funds I am trying to raise are for the next six months, and include rent payment, phone and internet, medical appointments, treatments and pills, food, and assisted transportation until the doctors can put me back on my feet so I can go back to work.
For the past seven years, I have been constantly grateful for every single year of life that I was given, despite my terrible odds. I have seen my sons graduate from high school and college, I have helped them with their first apartment rental, and I have even been to my oldest son's wedding. Help has always come from unexpected places throughout my painful experience, and I am hopeful that my luck has not run out. I am finally a grandmother to a beautiful little baby girl, and all I want is to have the strength and health to hold her in my arms, to play with her, to see her go to school and dance in her first ballet recital. I have fought with every ounce of my body for the past seven years, and I am not giving up now. If you can, please help me fight through this hard period so I can be back on my feet, back to work, and back to my beautiful little granddaughter.
Thank you.
Svetlana
