Help Support Susan Somers in Her Recovery

This fundraiser is being managed by daughters Courtney & Britt on behalf of Susan Somers.

Hello everyone, our mom Sue has been battling breast cancer and related health problems since 2013. Those of us lucky enough to know her know she is the most positive, inspiring and beautiful person inside and out. Most people who meet her would never know that she deals with daily chronic pain, and despite that every day she wakes up and chooses to see the beauty in life.

Sue never asks for help, but we are asking for some support from you in this case, as she has recently undergone a traumatic event during surgery, and has a road to recovery ahead. We would love to reach our fundraising goal so we can help cover her daily expenses like medication, gas to and from procedures, and help her be able to recover without worry until the next procedure.

A little backstory about Sue’s journey to date:

2013 - Sue was sadly diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and underwent chemo & radiation.

Fall 2014 - We discovered they had missed some preliminary scans that may have shown further spread of cancer, which led her breast cancer to spread unchecked to her bones. She underwent further rounds of radiation & chemo - this time landing her in the ICU

2015 - 2023 - Sue underwent a blood transfusion, once again landing her in the ICU. She also in this time frame underwent further surgeries (Oopherectomy and Spinal Surgery) plus radiation, yet again learned the cancer had spread to other areas of the bones.

This brings us to 2024, when we learned the cancer had again spread - metastasis to the liver. Last week Sue had surgery to remove cancer on the liver at Saint John Regional Hospital. There was success with targeting one of the two lesions, but the needle missed the second lesion and punctured the heart. She immediately went into Cardiac Arrest, thankfully the surgical team brought Sue back after flatlining but were unable to complete surgery. She once again was put in intensive care in the ICU to heal from the heart issues and interventional ablation radiation.

She is now home with her family recovering and has another surgery booked to try and complete the process. We are so grateful she has fought so hard for so long to be able to continue to be here with us, and would greatly appreciate any of your help to keep our loving Mom/Daughter/Sister/Friend healing and home with us so she is able to tackle the next procedure.
