Hello friends of Stephanie Bozylinski:

This is Stephanie's husband Brian and our daughter Teagan, seeking donations to help offset the costs of Stephanie's latest medical care.

More than 16 months ago, Stephanie returned home from being hospitalized as a result of a serious and pronounced seizure outbreak, which, combined with progressive white matter brain disease, has left her reliant on round-the-clock care. Since returning home at that time, Stef has been under in-home hospice care. Normally, hospice patients are given a life expectancy of six months or less and can no longer benefit from curative treatment. Well, in typical Stef fashion, she has continued to beat the odds and has survived for nearly a year and a half.

However, being bedridden for such an extended period of time has introduced a whole new set of problems that we weren't anticipating, namely muscle atrophy, weight loss and worst of all, significant bed sores. Our last fundraiser was an amazing success and we were humbled at the outpouring of thoughtfulness and generosity — and still are! The funds received were well utilized and covered a substantial amount of our out-of-pocket costs. We have been able to essentially replicate the support and care she was receiving as an in-patient.

Unfortunately, the hospice agency does not have a wound care specialist on staff and her pressure sores continue to worsen and multiply. We are at a point where Stef desperately needs one, and yet because it's considered a specialty treatment, it is not covered by our insurance.

Her doctors and nursing staff have already stated that they are unable to provide better care than they already have been and that she would benefit from a wound specialist — someone we would need to hire privately. Additionally, we are also at the point where many of the out-of-pocket costs are again becoming a challenge to meet, including the ongoing hire of an in-home nurse certified to handle Stef’s special needs, which still include tracheostomy, respiratory, and feeding tube care.

And because Stephanie still requires 24/7 support, securing a competent nurse aide is still a necessity to fill in the gaps of support between what we can provide and those of her hospice team. Teagan and I are again, most humbly asking for your financial support. Every dollar received will be directly applied to support and improve Stephanie’s quality of life and to ensure she has everything necessary to meet her challenging needs. Each and every contribution will be greatly appreciated, regardless of the amount—so please consider a donation today!

Teagan and I both thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And most importantly, Stephanie thanks you too!

Very kindly,
Brian & Teagan Flaherty
