Our hearts are broken as we share the unexpected loss of our dear friend, Jared.

Jared was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He loved his family fiercely and dedicated his life to caring for them. He also found peace in the mountains, where hiking and climbing became a source of healing. In memory of his late son, Joshua, Jared carried Joshua’s beloved Pete the Cat stuffed animal to every summit he climbed—a beautiful reminder that Joshua was always with him.

On Friday, July 24, Jared achieved a goal he had worked hard for by reaching the summit of Mount Jefferson in Oregon. His final text to his wife, Steffanie, simply read, “Top of Jefferson.” Tragically, shortly afterward, Jared suffered a fatal fall.

Jared leaves behind the love of his life, Steffanie, eight beautiful children, and one precious baby due in February. Their family is now facing unimaginable grief while preparing to welcome a new life without the husband and father they cherish.
