Help Support Our Son's Hero

Hi, my name is Mike and I'd like to introduce you to my loving, joyful, and thoughtful sister-in-law, Francisca... or Cisca as we all call her.

She and her family immigrated to the USA from Indonesia just recently in October 2021. Since arriving, Cisca has cared for my two youngest children as their nanny while my two older children attend school. My children instantly fell in love with her and they look forward to seeing her each day. She is the kindest person and always smiling all the time.

Cisca and her husband, Yuswan, celebrate their 16th anniversary on Friday, April 22nd. The day was so lovely out, so Cisca, her 14-year-old daughter Feli, my 3-year-old daughter (Penny), and my 2-year-old son (Jamie) decided to walk to our neighborhood park just two blocks away.

Cisca was pushing our 3-year-old in the stroller, while Feli held hands with Jamie right in front of them. They approached a busier street to cross, looked both ways, and continued on towards the park. After crossing the midpoint of the street, a car abruptly came upon them and side-swept Feli and Jamie at 30+ mph. The driver never saw them and didn't press on the brakes until after hitting the children.

Feli was launched into the air and landed 10 feet away. Jamie was tossed through the air and slid 20 feet away.

All of this happened RIGHT IN FRONT of Cisca and Penny's eyes. Without hesitation, Cisca made sure Penny was safe across the street in the stroller, then in an instant, she chose to go first to assist Jamie to make sure no approaching cars would do any further harm, checked on Feli who was lying on the ground. Feli thankfully responded and said "Jamie...Jamie" so Cisca put Jamie on the grassy sidewalk and found Jamie was blue in the face and unresponsive, she cried for him to respond, and he finally did, which must have felt like an eternity. Cisca then had the fortitude to call my wife, Rachel, to beg for help.

1st responders quickly arrived and provided critical care to the children. When I arrived on the scene, I had to frantically assess what was going on. Both kids were rushed off by ambulance to the nearest trauma medical center along with Rachel, and I stayed behind with Cisca to help transport both of us to the hospital.

Just like in the movies, Cisca was in shock... All that must have been going through her head... Her own child lying on the street... Her 2-year-old baby nephew being tossed like a ragdoll... Blaming herself...

This go-fund-me is set up to assist Cisca and to show she has a loving support network behind her. My wife and I are fortunate to have many friends and family that have reached out to us, brought us food, activities for our kids, flowers... but Cisca and her family have had limited local support.

She is a HERO for how she responded in that moment of utter devastation. We will be seeking out counseling to help her and her family process her emotions, depression, and trauma. Please help us show them how much they are loved and worthy of our honor.
