Hello, my name is Kevin and I’m reaching out you with a heavy heart and a deep sense of hope. One of my closest friends, Sonny is facing a major health battle. While helping someone on their home, a microburst thunderstorm came out of nowhere and he was knocked off from his ladder from approximately 26 to 24 feet falling more than two stories and hitting wooden deck area below so we are launching a GoFundMe campaign to ensure he can receive the life-changing medical assistance and home care he urgently needs.
We know that despite the immense emotional and physical pain Sonny is currently experiencing, Sonny has always been a fighter. Sonny been battling cancer for several years now (beating it twice), but Sonny is also a single father to his autistic son as well. All who know him know he will be determined to beat this tragedy as his doctors just informed him that it will take approximately a minimum 6 months to a year for him to learn how to walk again which means he could be out of work for over a year. We all are looking forward for him to regain his health to living a fulfilling life once again. He deserves all the love, support, and hope we can offer.
Unfortunately, his medical bills are already overwhelming. Currently, his out-of-pocket cost that he’s responsible for after the insurance billing is $181,308. Sonny's internal injuries were so serious that the hospital's on staff surgery team had to end the emergency surgery and Sonny had to wait four days in order for a specialty trauma surgical team to be brought into the hospital to perform the surgery that specializes in the extensive internal injuries Sonny had. (A) The above amount doesn’t even include his future required surgery (estimated at between $18,000.00 to $24000.00), (B) his continued PT that he will need and (C) Sonny not being able to work for the next year to take care of his and son’s living expenses. All of this has put an extremely heavy burden on Sonny.
We, his friends and loved ones, want to make a significant difference in his life because we know Sonny has made a difference to so many others in their lives from serving his country (Sonny is teaching his son to give back. They were scheduled to be volunteering with the US Forest Service) to consistently serving his community. He’s always donating his time from community clean ups projects and has as organized coat/jacket drives during the wintertime to make sure to help children receive coats for the wintertime. Also, I’ve seen Sonny time after time provide simple home repairs, gutter cleaning and yard cleanouts for disabled elderly and veterans alike for free and never willing to accept any payment for his time because he says its the right thing to do. By us coming together and contributing to his medical fund, any amount will make a huge difference in his outcome. Many thanks from Sonny’s friends and family.
