Support for Somerly through her battle with cancer

I am reaching out on behalf of my sister Somerly Kerr.
In early January 2020, we received the unfortunate news that Somerly was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, which is a very complex cancer. She has been through chemotherapy and radiation and is now hoping to start the next step of her treatment, which is immunotherapy.
The immunotherapy treatment is a very expensive treatment and for us is not covered by BC medical plans. The cost is thousands of dollars monthly and can go on for 12 months.
The complex nature of this cancer has also limited Somerly’s mobility and now that she is home we need to adapt our home to help her get to and from the treatments. Unfortunately due to Covid-19, the government has put all applications for grants on hold until further notice.
For those of you who don’t know my family, here is a little background on who you would be helping. Somerly and I were born and raised in Squamish, B.C. Somerly was always part of the local Pirates swim club, playing soccer in the fall and spring and baseball in the summer. Always thriving in academics, she graduated from Howe Sound Secondary School fluent in French and then went on to graduate from SFU.
Our mom, Vicki Parford has been there since day one for my sister, taking a leave of absence from work to be her full-time caregiver at our home in Squamish. Our dad, Dan Kerr who lives and works at Evans lake does everything he can to support Somerly’s fight through cancer, even if it is just to put a smile on her face.
Our family will stop at nothing to make sure Somerly gets the help she needs. She fights every day like a warrior in this battle with cancer. With all the costs adding up we are reaching out for any help you can give, whether it is donating, sharing this page or even sending love and thoughts to our family, any of these help in ways you couldn’t imagine. She continues to stay strong and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
