Dear friends and family,
I am asking for your support.
Two years ago, I was clinically diagnosed with Endometriosis. It is a condition I have been struggling with on and off since the age of 13. As many of you know, my medical journey has been long and frustrating. Once I found out about my diagnosis of Endometriosis, I realized I had a similar story to many women around the world. Sadly, it takes 8-10 years for women to be diagnosed due to the lack of resources and understanding around this disease.
Endometriosis caused me to leave my last job (I was collapsing in pain on a regular basis) and Endo is increasingly becoming a disability in my life. Endo does NOT have a cure, but one can get surgery to PREVENT the disease from spreading and causing more internal organ damage and pain. The problem is most surgeons lack the surgical skills to properly perform excision surgery. Excision surgery is considered the gold standard to properly remove Endo. A lot of women receive many surgeries before removing all the rouge tissue because the tissue can be found on many different organs within the abdominal cavity and is hard to locate.
We decided to see a specialist who performs excision surgery and has a low risk of his patients needing multiple surgeries in their future. The cost of surgery by a trained specialist is NOT covered by insurance and we need your help! Isaac and I are able to cover my out of pocket maximum (hospital stay, pathology, etc.) and premiums for the year which totals $6500- $10,000. The surgery however is an additional total of $12,000. The only thing holding me back from taking care of my health is the $ so, any little bit will help!
I will be receiving abdominal excision surgery by Dr. Cook in Los Gatos. Other treatments, such as hormonal therapy have been ruled out for me by doctors. You can read more about his center here: https://www.vitalhealth.com After the surgery, there will be ongoing Physical Therapy appointments to complete the healing process and (fingers crossed) I will have less pain and a higher quality of life.
We are hoping to schedule the surgery in the next few months. Thank you for your support and caring. Isaac, our families and I really appreciate it!! Feel free to ask us any questions or look at the links below if you are interested.
Love,
Simone, Isaac and our families
