On Tuesday morning, our world shifted. While driving down the 33 during a heavy rainstorm, a nearby driver sped out of control and hydroplaned, striking Shawn. In an instant, his vehicle was totaled, and he was left with multiple spinal fractures, a fractured sternum, and broken ribs.

Shawn is now facing a long road—months of healing, followed by rehabilitation—before he can safely return to the career he loves. As many of you know, Shawn isn’t just a hairstylist. He is the proud owner of Smith & Co., a space he built from his heart for his clients, his team, and his community. But with injuries this serious, he cannot work, and as a small business owner, there is no safety net. His income depends entirely on his physical ability to stand behind the chair.

Beyond being a devoted stylist and business owner, Shawn is a father. His first worry after the accident wasn’t for himself—it was for his daughter and how he would continue to provide for her while he’s unable to work.

While insurance claims and legal processes slowly move forward, the immediate reality remains: the bills don’t stop. Rent, medical costs, business expenses, payroll, and the daily needs of his daughter continue to come, regardless of his painful healing process.
