Help Support Shane Martin’s Heart Health Journey

****************Update******************

On March 31st Shane went to Oschner’s in NOLA for a right cath to check his heart. When they went in they noticed he was full of fluid and had major pressure on the heart and they admitted him into the ICU. After a couple of days he came down with the chills and started dry heaving. Later that day his pulse skyrocketed to over 300bpm and his heart got out of rhythm so his ICD (defibrillator) ended up shocking his heart to get it back in rhythm. The doctors knowing about the chills and dry heaving suspected an infection and took cultures. They found out that he has an infection in his bloodstream. He has been on antibiotics by IV to treat the infection and on fluid medicine by IV to rid of fluid. They did an echo this morning 4/7/25 to see if he had any infection in his heart itself. Test results showed no infection in the heart. Hoping to get him transferred from medications by IV to by mouth. He is doing well and doctors say he is headed in the right direction. As of now they have his discharge date for 4/10/25 but that can always change. Hopefully it won’t. Thank you all for the donations that will definitely help him through this heart health journey and I can not say thank you enough for all the prayers for him and my family. It’s been a trying year but we have our faith in God and all the support to help us through it.

*********Original Post and Update************

As some of you know, my brother, Shane Martin, has been going through a lot of health issues this past year. He had been in the hospital for seven months, mostly waiting on a heart transplant, but could not wait any longer due to the rare heart he needs and had to have an operation to insert an LVAD in his heart. After surgery, he had some complications with his left side, which is still giving him a bit of trouble with strength and walking long distances. He has been home for around a month now but has to go give weekly bloodwork and has weekly doctor visits in New Orleans. He was let go from his job a week before his scheduled admission into the hospital. Because of his health, he is unable to work and find another job. The travel and upkeep on his health is becoming financially hard for him. As his family, we are trying to help as much as we can. I know there are a lot of loved ones and friends that have my brother, Shane, in your hearts and prayers, which y’all have already shown to him and my family. We are so grateful. On behalf of my brother, I am asking for you to continue showing your love and support to him by helping him with any type of donation to help him with these extra expenses. My family and I will be so humbled by your generosity of any type.
