I am making my professional New York City debut this summer with Selkie Woman, which will be opening off-off-Broadway as part of the Manifestival in their signature series. This is the next step in the show's development and an important opportunity to showcase my work to agents and producers using professional actors, designers, and creatives.
Selkie Woman follows Layla and JJ as they navigate the complications of girlhood and friendship and explore what it means to love and be loved.
We performed this play last year at Columbia University, and I was so heartened to see how much it resonated with the audience. They laughed, they squirmed, some even cried. These reactions reminded me that I write to give voice to the unspoken, and it inspired me to continue pursuing stories centering women, especially in the current political climate.
Having just graduated from Columbia with my MFA in playwriting, I'm so excited to share my work as an emerging writer, and I thank you so much for your support on my journey!
