The Fight Continues (Updated 7/9/2026)

Today, we're announcing the relaunch of our GoFundMe and an update on our case with Nestlé. Since last year, we've attempted to resolve the dispute in a reasonable way and continued to negotiate in good faith.

Nestlé has since filed a second legal action, expanding their challenge beyond our name to our logo and essentially, our brand. More time. More legal costs. More resources spent defending something we never thought we’d have to defend.

We're doubling down on our commitment to fighting for the brand we've spent nearly a decade building here in Seattle. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and helped us stand against Nestlé. We wouldn't be here without you and we deeply appreciate your support.

Nestlé says that ‘Seattle Strong’ infringes on ‘Seattle's Best,’ a company they acquired in 2022.

We say: ‘Seattle’ is in our name because it’s where we started, and it’s who we are.

We started Seattle Strong Coffee as students at the University of Washington back in 2017. What began as a class project grew into a full-time business—roasting and brewing cold brew coffee right here in Seattle.

Now, the Nestlé corporation, a multinational conglomerate based over 5,000 miles away in Switzerland, is telling us our name infringes on their rights. Apparently, only they can use the name ‘Seattle.’

We don’t think that’s right. So, we’re fighting back.

Why we need your help

Nestle made over $13 billion dollars in profit last year alone. We didn’t. They have teams of lawyers on their staff. We don’t. We’re doing everything we can to keep ‘Seattle’ in our name – the city where we started, where we roast and brew our coffee, and where we live. And we could use your support.
