Hi, my name is Olivia, and I am raising money for my close friend Sarah Martin. Sarah is a wonderful person who deserves the support of her community during this extremely tough time in her life.

Sarah's mother, Winsome, has been suffering from a severe autoimmune disorder for the majority of Sarah's life. Her health conditions include encephalopathy-induced dementia and paranoid schizophrenia. After Winsome suffered from a stroke last summer, her health has worsened. Her stroke led to underlying aphasia and rapidly intensifying seizures. After becoming ill with pneumonia, Winsome was admitted to the hospital on September 4th, 2022. Her aphasia developed into a lung infection that Sarah's mom could not fight. Sarah was not notified until October 12th of her mom's hospitalization; by this time, Winsome required life support. Today is November 3rd, and Sarah, who relocated from Charleston to LA recently, has taken over three weeks off work. She has flown back to Charleston twice to spend time with her mother while she is still with us. Winsome is now in hospice care and is expected to live for no more than five days.

As Sarah recently moved across the country, she has been making ends meet as best as possible. As someone who has known Sarah for many years, I can not emphasize how responsible and independent she is. Now that Sarah has taken this time off of work, she is in over her head with expenses such as rent, bills, and car payments. Sarah would like to be able to stay with her mom until she passes and plan and attend a funeral service for Winsome before returning to LA to work.

Sarah was kept in the dark about aspects of her mother's health until she was on life support, and this has all been very sudden for her. Sarah needs any help someone can offer so that she may spend her last days with her mother in peace, knowing she can maintain her living expenses. The goal of $3,000 will cover Sarah's rent, bills, and other payments while she is with her mother. Any excess donations will go towards funeral costs for Winsome.
