Help Support Sammi (and Roo’s) Journey to Recovery

Dear Friends and Family,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out to share the story of my dear cousin Sammi, who has been an incredible source of support and care for so many of us. A dedicated nurse and nursing instructor at USM, Sammi has always put others first, dropping everything to be there when we need her most. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her.

Since August 2022, Sammi has been battling serious health issues that have drastically changed her life. After enduring heart arrhythmias, extreme fatigue, brain fog, fevers, weakness, she has seen countless specialists and navigated a maze of medical appointments. She was ultimately diagnosed with "Long COVID," a condition still so new and poorly understood, leaving her in a constant state of uncertainty and unable to work.

To help her through this challenging time, Sammi welcomed a therapeutic companion dog named Roo into her life. Roo has provided her with much-needed support and companionship. Unfortunately, Roo recently tore her CCL (ACL), adding to the financial toll on Sammi at an already difficult time.

Sammi is not one to ask for help, but as she focuses on her recovery, she needs our support more than ever. The ongoing medical expenses and the need for specialized treatments, along with Roo's medical needs, are overwhelming. We can make a difference in her journey toward healing.
