Help support Samantha and Amanda

Hello, my name is Alexis, and as many of you may know my cousin, Eh Ler Tha, passed away after a fierce battle with Covid on Sunday, August 1st. She fought for over two weeks without access to basic medical care as the Burmese military has been denying oxygen and other critical resources to ethnic minorities or anyone that might oppose their regime. She was a bright light in this world, and everyone that got the chance to know and love her will remember Eh Ler Tha as a joyful presence, a warm soul, a beloved daughter, a kindhearted older sister to three, but above all a devoted mother to her two daughters, Amanda (9) and Samantha (11). She loved her two girls with everything she had, so much that her last words, which were to her mother, were "please do everything you can to take care of my daughters." These words carry even greater weight as her husband, their father, passed 5 years ago. There is no doubt in my mind that Samantha and Amanda will grow up with an abundance of love, nurture, and care from our big Karen family, filled with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We all love them and loved Eh Ler Tha. However, the reality is that my family, like so many Karen people living under the violent and oppressive regime right now, are deprived of the ability to work and care for themselves and their community. The whole world is impacted by COVID but since the military coup on February 1, unless you are with the military you are on your own. We can't help everyone but we want to help Samantha and Amanda for as long as it takes. This includes, but is not limited to, paying for their education, their food, their clothing, their current caretaker's income, and an addition to my family's house so they can live with their grandparents, Eh Ler Tha's mother and father, their aunt and uncle, Eh Ler Tha's younger brother and sister, and their cousin's Alvina and Fiona. Whatever we receive on this page, will go directly to Eh Ler Tha's girls. If you can, help us in honoring Eh Ler Tha's life and her last words. Help us show Samantha and Amanda that they are loved by and cared for by so many people across the world. Above all, help us ensure a brighter future for these two smart, sweet, and sassy, girls, who Eh Ler loved more than anything in her life that ended far too soon.
