PLEASE HELP SAM WALK AGAIN!

I want to thank my good friend Laurie for writing the following explanation of why your help is needed. ~Sam Randolph

Sam is one of the kindest, most intelligent, heart-centered people I’ve ever known. Even after everything that has happened to him, his focus, dream and goal is to start a nonprofit, and give back to his community and so many others.

On April 6, 2022, Sam Randolph was fully Exonerated and released from Pennsylvania’s death row after serving 21 years for a Wrongful Conviction, (a crime he did not commit).

Despite being Exonerated and released from prison, Sam is currently disabled and confined to bed. So although he is technically “free“, he is not able to sit, stand, walk, or get back to any type of normal lifestyle, yet...

..“I am home, but I am still imprisoned, confined to a bed.”

Although some Exoneree’s return “home“, Sam was unable to due to the 24/7 care he requires due to major injuries to his back inflicted upon him by Correctional Officers in a vengeful attack. On May 18th, 2009, while handcuffed behind his back, defenseless, being led out into the yard, CO’s assaulted Sam slamming his head, then body forcefully onto the ground then two guards fell on him, crushing his lower back and injuring his spine.

When Sam was released from death row, he was penniless, homeless, and disabled. A nonprofit had a fundraiser on Instagram to raise funds for housing for Sam. They also asked for doctors to reach out if any were willing to help. After ordering an MRI, a Neurosurgeon in California has agreed to do Sam’s surgery for free. However, there will be many additional costs involved for special transport, housing, 24/7 care, and most importantly, extensive and prolonged months long Physical Therapy and Rehab after surgery. The most crucial part.

We are asking for financial contributions of any amount to reach a goal of $100,000+ to support Sam in securing all of the many services he will need after surgery, plus any of the other daily/life needs he has.

*Sam became the 187th person to be released from the United States death row, and the 11th person to be exonerated from death row in Pennsylvania.

6/26/23 UPDATE:
Greetings everyone!

This is Sam. I am writing to thank you again for your generous donations and to share some exciting news. First, you are amazing and I cannot thank you enough for donating to help me get the surgery I need to be able to walk again.

I want you to know that in the past four months, more than 475 people have chipped in to help raise over $27,000 of the more than $100,000 needed to support my surgery and recovery. Obviously, that is significant and I am very grateful, but there is a long way to go. And there is good news!

Pennsylvanians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty and the national group, Death Penalty Action, are coming to Harrisburg this week, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.  The medical transport truck is coming to get me, and together we will go to the Pennsylvania Statehouse where we will hold a press conference about this fundraiser.  The goal is to get my situation into the national and international media, and to invite the world to help us raise more than $100,000 by July 4th! If that happens, I'll be able to schedule my surgery!

I want to ask for your help. Once the news starts to come out after the press conference, we need as many people as possible to help amplify the news by sharing it on social media. We also need to show momentum in the fundraiser, so if you might be willing to chip in even just a little bit more next Wednesday or in the following days, that will be a huge help.  Here is the link: https://gofund.me/23cb0c10

I wanted to give you a heads up, and thank you again. I will send another update on Wednesday morning.

Much love and blessings always,
Sam Randolph
