Help Support Ryan Yarush and His Family

Donation protected
On June 13th, Ryan Yarush, my cousin and one of my late husband's closest friends, was brutally attacked at Mushroom Beach in Kelowna. His friend, who was with him at the time, has stated that the attack was unprovoked. Since then, Ryan has been in Kelowna General Hospital, largely unconscious, and his condition remains critical.

Ryan is currently unable to speak much—only able to say a word or two, such as "yes," "no," or "help me." The left side of his body is paralyzed, and while his trach has been removed, he still relies on breathing and feeding tubes. He remains mostly unresponsive and is unable to leave his bed.

His elderly parents, in their 80s and from Manitoba, are staying in Kelowna to be with him during this difficult time. They do not have a car in the area and rely on taxis for transportation, as they struggle with mobility, particularly his mother, who recently had a knee replacement.

Ryan's 15-year-old son also needs support, as Ryan provided financial support to him before this tragic incident.

We are raising funds to assist Ryan’s family with the following:

Travel expenses: Airfare, accommodations, and taxis for his parents as they remain by his side.

Care expenses: His parents may need to hire someone to help with Ryan's care as his recovery will be long and uncertain.

Support for Ryan's son: Ensuring that Ryan's son is provided for as his father fights to recover.

Ryan is an innocent victim of senseless violence, and the ripple effect on his life and the lives of his family members has been devastating. Please consider donating if you can. Every little bit helps as they navigate this incredibly challenging time.

If you previously contributed to the Go Fund Me for the care of Ryan’s dogs, thank you so much. His two dogs are still looking for a foster placement.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

Update from Ryan’s parents (August 1):
We want to thank all of you for your kind thoughts and your generous donations for Ryan and his care. Ryan has improved in many ways , but it will be months before he can leave the hospital. His injury, caused by a senseless act, may change his and many other lives, so your help is very much appreciated.
