Understanding the Situation: A Personal Appeal for Support

Today, I find myself in a position that many would rather avoid discussing, yet it is a reality that I must confront. I am launching a GoFundMe campaign to seek assistance with our bills for the next two months. This decision did not come lightly; it is born out of necessity and the hope that our community can lend a helping hand during this challenging time.

My husband, Robert, has been diagnosed with kidney cancer affecting his right kidney. While this news is undoubtedly daunting, there is a glimmer of hope: his doctor believes that the tumor can be surgically removed and that there is a possibility of saving the kidney itself. However, this procedure comes with its own set of uncertainties. The success of the surgery hinges on various factors, including the level of bleeding during the operation. Robert is scheduled for surgery in late May, and we anticipate that he will be unable to work for at least eight weeks following the procedure.

While we are grateful for the potential positive outcome of removing the tumor, we must also grapple with the sobering reality that kidney cancer can metastasize to other organs, including the lungs. The implications of such spread are severe; unlike removing a kidney, which may allow for a relatively normal life post-surgery, lung removal presents far more complex challenges. We will not have definitive answers regarding this risk until early to mid-May when further assessments will be conducted.

In light of these circumstances, We made the difficult decision to do his surgery by one month. This would be in May. This delay provides us with some breathing room to organize our lives and finances in preparation for what lies ahead.

As we navigate this tumultuous journey, I am striving to maintain a positive outlook. Life can often feel overwhelmingly unfair; it throws challenges our way that seem insurmountable at times.
